When it comes to getting in shape, diet and exercise are the best ways to burn fat, build muscle, and gain overall fitness. However, once a person has reached a certain stage in their weight loss quest, they may struggle to lose fat in certain areas. Depending on how the fat is distributed, the person may not like the way their clothes fit, or they may feel self-conscious about the extra fat. It is virtually impossible to decide exactly where and in what order fat will come off as a result of diet and exercise. Fortunately, for people who are generally happy with their weight but want to achieve a certain look, there is EMSCULPT®. One of many body contouring procedures, EMSCULPT® has the unique ability to build muscle while reducing fat.
How EMSCULPT® Works
EMSCULPT® utilizes High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic (HIFEM) technology to cause muscle contractions that cannot be replicated through manual exercise. The muscle responds to the extreme contractions by remodeling its structure to build more muscle and create a more toned, contoured appearance on the outside. Patients are able to achieve toned muscles in the abdomen and buttocks without discomfort, downtime, or spending hours exercising.
EMSCULPT® sessions tend to last just 30 minutes. Patients typically require multiple sessions to achieve optimal results. During the procedure, the patient is in a relaxed position. The procedure feels similar to an intense workout with the potential for soreness the next day. Because EMSCULPT® is a non-invasive procedure, there is no downtime, and patients can resume their daily activities as soon as the procedure is over.
EMSCULPT® permanently destroys fat cells in the treated areas. However, the fat cells in the surrounding areas may grow larger. Therefore, EMSCULPT® is not a substitute for continuing to follow an effective diet and exercise routine. The growth in muscle tone created by the procedure lasts for months. Patients who wish to maintain the muscle tone effects are recommended to periodically receive maintenance treatments.
